Background

Ba'laam was an angel of the fourth house, the Neberu. Ba was part of the team that created and implemented causality to allow creation to be dynamic. Her group was under the supervision of Arhimal who was the first Neberu to predict the great catastrophe. As knowledge of the catastrophe spread amongst the angels, lines started being drawn and when Arhimal joined Lucifer in rebellion against God's plan she followed her superior and became a rebel.

Like most other Neberu Ba'laam did not care for humanity much, only as a part of the grand creation of the universe. When the war in heaven started she was drafted in to be a scryer. Through the war she and the other Neberu could no longer scry the future for some unknown reason and the rebellion failed.

After being captured but before being cast into the abyss she felt something odd. An emptiness different from being forsaken by God. That feeling ate away at her in the abyss. all she could do is worry about the machinery of creation, the catastrophe and the strange feeling. Thousands of years after the fall the sixth great maelstrom damaged the seals keeping the fallen in the abyss and she was able to break free of its grasp….

Lilah was born in Manchester to a middle class family. She was a bit aloof and shy growing up. She would rather not engage in small talk if she could help it and was bullied for being "frigid". She dealt with such bullying most of her academic life. Wishing to avoid such comments in a professional setting she ended up gravitating towards more socially isolated professions. She eventually settled on horology. So she went to a trade school and after three years she got her accreditation.

She went to work for a jewelry and mostly worked on expensive custom made clocks and old inherited clocks for wealthy clients. She was happy with her work and the pay was decent enough to have a comfortable life. She felt as if the pain she went through in school finally paid off. However tragedy would strike in her life when she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She entered a deep depression from which she wouldn't recover.

Things came to a head when she tried to kill herself by mixing pain medication and large amounts of alcohol. Unfortunately she was successful.

At the same time Ba'laam had recently escaped the confines of the abyss and was looking for somewhere she could anchor her incorporeal form to. Seeing a new vacated body Ba'laam took the opportunity and possessed Lilah's body. As typical of a fallen possessing a human body all of Lilah's former ailments were healed and the memories of Lilah were fused with and helped control the tortured psyche of Ba'laam. Two became one and a fiend returned to earth.

She joined a group of Cryptics, fallen more interested in the pursuit of knowledge than in other pursuits. She had a suspicious feeling that God had abandoned his creation and searched for the loyalist angels. After a few years of scrying, researching and investigating she found no trace of them left. She also found no trace of God. This frustrated her to no end. She wanted answers for all her questions and only the supreme creator could answer them. As such she set out to search for a way out of creation, hypothesizing that if God left then there should be other creations and worlds beyond her own.
