Background

Ropani was born to parents she does not remember. She was born during the Clone Wars, toward the end of the conflict. She wasn’t even a year old when the Battle of Coruscant raged over her home. She doesn’t remember any of it, other than the fact that her parents did not survive the Confederacy of Independent Systems as they ravaged the city planet. Her first memory is of an orphanage in the underworld of Coruscant- an orphanage she spent the first 8 years of her life in. There was nothing particularly wrong with the place, she was well taken care of, but she was strong-headed and frequently got herself into trouble. That trouble ended up being what brought her off world. She was sent to get some supplies for the orphanage- food, water, other groceries. While in one of the many sprawling markets of the underworld, she happened to spot a fully armored man who’s outfit resembled the retired clones she still sometimes saw wandering the streets. Or maybe the clones’ armor resembled his? She didn’t give herself time to find out, and instead followed the man all the way back to his ship. Which- driven by 8 year old curiosity- she stowed away on. The man found her two days later, but rather than throw her out an airlock he brought her with him to his destination: Mandalore.

There she was taken to a place with more strange armored people. She was offered a choice. Go back to the orphanage, or become a Mandalorian and be brought into the man’s care. She took the latter option, and was made a foundling under a small group of Mandalorians who adhered to the old Creed. She stayed with them all the way up to the Purge. Mandalore had been under Imperial rule since long before Ropani was brought there, but a Mandalorian from off-world who had acquired the darksaber had claimed to have freed Mandalore from Imperial rule and made it free again. She was 17 when the Imperial fleets arrived over her homeworld, and she only made it off-world by pure luck. Ropani had no idea if any other members of her clan survived; she never saw them again. Mandalore burned.

She fled to Tatooine, and lived in Mos Espa for a year before finding a small group of Mandalorian refugees living in hiding in the cliffs above the spaceport. The Krayt Covert. They were less strict than her previous clan, but they welcomed her with open arms and brought her in to help train the Foundlings. She took special pride in this, helping children who were like her. She tried to train them as best she could to help them survive, survival was most important now. Ropani stayed with them for 5 years. The Empire was defeated and scattered by that time. She was sent to gather supplies for the armorer to make equipment for a foundling, and paired with another Mandalorian who worked mercenary jobs to pay for the covert’s needs. She boarded his ship, and set off for Sullust. When they returned, they returned to the marching of stormtroopers, and not a single surviving Mandalorian in their covert.

On the run again, the Krayt covert decimated from 37 to 2. Just Ropani and the other Mandalorian she had been working with. It’s been a year since then. In her grief over the loss of the covert- and the foundlings she had been caring for- she returned to the Creed and became a Child of the Watch once again.
