The Aeternexa is a mechanical device, looking much like an antique pocket watch, measuring 39 mm in diameter and comes attached with a gold chain and onyx pendulum at the end.  It is made of 24k gold with a representation of celestial alignment between the sun and moon on the front, seemingly perfectly smooth sapphire, patterns in the crystal seem to be within the sapphire itself.  Inside the device are a series of 3 hands and 3 dials of rotating symbols inlaid into the face.  Each hand and dial moves independently of the others, when put together each hand will point to 3 runes in alignment.  The symbols align in such a way to provide the 9 runes required to identify where within the Verum Transitus one is.

The device allows the owner to navigate the Verum Transitus, though it is only one part of the puzzle of navigationIt acts as a kind of compass, it can tell a person where they are and where they are going by the symbols on the interior faceWhile the Rose Codex is capable of showing a map from one place to another, the Aeternexa acts like a compass to this map.
The collar itself is very simple, once sealed around the neck of a person they become the property of the owner of the ringThe bond between the master and slave goes beyond the jewelry itself.  The collar grants the wearer an empathic connection to the master, they are aware of mood, location, and general state of mindThe slave may also mentally communicate with the master once the collar has been placed around their neck, though it takes some time for the connection to become deep enough for this.

The celestial alignment on the cover shifts and changes, it is able to locate the nearest entrance to the Transitus.  The sun and moon move across the face and the geometric lines shift to point the owner at the nearest point which connects to the Transitus, no matter where it is.

The ring, once worn by the owner, similarly cannot be removed unless the owner wishes to remove it.  Removing the ring does not break the connection between master and slave but does weaken it, depending on how long the pair have been bonded for.  The master is able to communicate with the slave, command them, and summon them to appear at will whenever the master wishes.  The master is also granted awareness of the slave's mood, state of mind / body, and otherwise is aware of the slaves position relative to the master.

To use the device within the Transitus one only has to read the symbols and move through the Transitus in the direction to align each dial and handAs one approaches their destination, the symbols will align and the path will reveal itselfOutside the Transitus, the cover acts as a kind of directional compass, though somewhat more complex than that.
The bond between master and slave is intense, it grows deeper with time.  The magic pushes the slave into being subservient, submissive, and reliant on the approval of the master, this does not subvert the will of the slave exactlyRather than subvert their will, it keys into the slave's emotional states and makes them feel strong, more confident, and safer when they have the approval of their masterFor the master it also keys into their emotional states and makes them feel more important, competent, and trusted when they are properly caring for and have a happy slave.  In this way the collar & ring bond the master and slave together in a mutual need to care for each other within the master / slave dynamic.

Legend has it that this device is as old, or nearly, as the Rose Codex itselfAccording to myth the Rose Codex was created but soon became too complex to navigate reliably to solve for this, the Aeternexa was created.  While there are known to be at 3 copies of the Codex, only one Aeternexa has ever been foundSome legends say that the Aeternexa was created by the Transitus itself, to provide a way to navigate it by someone chosen by the crossroads itself.

By all appearances the watch is a mechanical device made of 24k goldOnce can physically hear the internal gears clicking the same way one would in a pocket watch.  The face cover will not open to anyone, it can only be opened by the owner of the device and the back of the device does not open, the entire exterior appears to be two parts the lid on the hinge and the rest of the body is solid gold.  The symbols inside are not static and change as the owners location changes, even if the hands do not move.
When the slave dies, they too can pass their bond on to another person, usually a son or daughter to continue the lineThe bond transfers immediately and the master is instantly aware of the transfer.  The new slave will immediately become the property of the master and both will be effected by the bond.

The Aeternexa refers to two distinct objects, the collar -- which is a simple cord with a raw amethyst attached which seals around the neck of the wearer once placed and the ring which grants the owner special abilities with respect to the one wearing the collar.

Collar

The collar itself is very simple, once sealed around the neck of a person they become the property of the owner of the ring. The bond between the master and slave goes beyond the jewelry itself. The collar grants the wearer an empathic connection to the master, they are aware of mood, location, and general state of mind. The slave may also mentally communicate with the master once the collar has been placed around their neck, though it takes some time for the connection to become deep enough for this.

Ring

The ring, once worn by the owner, similarly cannot be removed unless the owner wishes to remove it. Removing the ring does not break the connection between master and slave but does weaken it, depending on how long the pair have been bonded for. The master is able to communicate with the slave, command them, and summon them to appear at will whenever the master wishes. The master is also granted awareness of the slave's mood, state of mind / body, and otherwise is aware of the slaves position relative to the master.

The Bond

The bond between master and slave is intense, it grows deeper with time. The magic pushes the slave into being subservient, submissive, and reliant on the approval of the master, this does not subvert the will of the slave exactly. Rather than subvert their will, it keys into the slave's emotional states and makes them feel strong, more confident, and safer when they have the approval of their master. For the master it also keys into their emotional states and makes them feel more important, competent, and trusted when they are properly caring for and have a happy slave. In this way the collar & ring bond the master and slave together in a mutual need to care for each other within the master / slave dynamic.

Death of the Master

When a master dies, they can pass their bond on to another person, usually a family member, by giving them the ring and willingly relinquishing the bond. Once this occurs the slave is immediately aware of it, whether the slave wishes the bond to be transferred or not they will quickly accept the new master once the bond is transferred. Without the bond being transferred, the collar will unseal and allow itself to be removed. The slave will also feel the death of the master intensely, even if the bond is transferred.

Death of the Slave

When the slave dies, they too can pass their bond on to another person, usually a son or daughter to continue the line. The bond transfers immediately and the master is instantly aware of the transfer. The new slave will immediately become the property of the master and both will be effected by the bond.
