Bryan had a pretty normal childhood. He's about as much of an average joe as you could expect, living the dream. He'd wanted to be a cop since he was a kid, so things are perfect for him. He had normal parents, normal schooling.
In fact, the most extraordinary thing about this man is probably the fact that he chose an apartment in Chicago over a cushy beach house in LA. That decision has made most of his friends question his sanity, and was regarded a bad move. After all, he was a Sergeant and a Field Training Officer with the LAPD. Why give better pay and better housing up?
A girl, that's why. Bryan had been in a long distance relationship with someone from Chicago, and he was moving to be closer to her. This turned out to be in vain. Three months after he moved she dumped him. So now he is stuck here. On the plus side, he got to keep the cat.
