The VX Virus is responsible for the conversion of a human being to a vampire.
Initial Infection
6 mins to grab CNS.
Host either found compatible with particular strain or dies in those 6 mins.
Anaphylactoid shock. ("Anaphylaxis is caused by antibodies called Immunoglobulin E, or IgE. But exactly the same end results can happen in various ways without IgE. That is called an anaphylactoid reaction. Anaphylaxis and anaphylactoid reactions differ in the things which cause them.")
Symptoms
- Respiratory symptoms, difficulty breathing
- Itching
- Swelling of throat or other mucous membranes
- Sudden decline in blood pressure
- Nerve endings & blood vessels cease function
- Tingling feeling in lips or mouth
- Vomiting
- Cramping pains
- Rapid heart beat
- Death
Progression
After shutting down the CNS the virus takes over the brain and nerves to prevent serious decay.
Within 10 minutes of introduction, VX has control of CNS, nerve endings, brain, & has reanimated the host. Could be perceived as a fainting spell.
Soft Tissues
Within 72-120 hrs the establishment into all soft tissue takes place.
- Stomach able to accept blood, partial metabolization.
- Food & drink may still be ingested but not utilized.
- Soft tissue discoloration.
- Violent limb spasming/convulsions
- Vomiting
- High fever
- Toxins expelled as encountered
Bone, Marrow, Connective Tissue
Within 8-10 days and after establishment into soft tissue, VX moves to bone, marrow & connective tissue (ligaments and tendons).
During establishment, the purpose of VX is to conquer and spread through the host as quickly as possible. Physical changes begin to occur once there is no chance of the host resisting, i.e. when the virus is less worried about immediate survival.
A particularly hostile strain would have everything from the CNS to your toenails within 11 days of introduction.
Mechanics
- Replicate DNA is produced by the viral cells & bonded to the host's, making certain traits dominant - species/type of vamp, characteristics of VX, physiological necessities. If the host DNA can not accommodate the changes, the host dies.
- The main goal of VX is to sustain the host environment indefinitely and to assure its survival within its environment. Therefore, it will immediately begin to reassemble the host environment to meet its needs.
- Deconstruction & reconstruction of host DNA/RNA structure to suit VX sustainment.
- Cytogenesis - White blood cells are broken down into glycogenic/healing strains of proteins. Used to repair the rigors of daily living. This is the substance that repairs the damages done by cellular decay. DNA is locked and specific.
- Mytogenesis - Red blood cells are injected with an emulsifier that reacts with the entire body of the cell. It provides power for the body to include the disciplines of the mind that manifest themselves in various bloodlines.
- VX is not dissimilar from HIV. Both are reverse transcriptase viruses.
- The gag gene encodes the internal 'core' proteins, the most important of which is P24, an antigen used in serologic tests.
- The POL gene encodes the several proteins including the virion 'reverse transcriptase,' which synthesizes DNA by using the genome RNA as a template, an Integrase that integrates the viral DNA into the cellular DNA, and a Protease that cleaves the various viral precursor proteins.
- The ENV gene encodes gp160, a precursor glycoprotein that is cleaved to form the 2 envelope (surface) glycoproteins Gp120 and Gp41.
- 2 molecules of the RNA are associated with reverse transcriptase.
- Surrounding structure is an icosahedral nucleocapsid composed of P24 proteins.
- HIV reverse transcribes itself, preferentially infecting and killing helper (CD4) Tcell lymphocytes, resulting in the loss of cell-mediated immunity: it kills off the body's ability to heal itself, leaving itself open to opportunistic infection.
- VX must be able to seek out the source of immunity replication itself within the host. It dominates the production of this helping action off-hand and shuts the CNS down for renovation.
