His parents still live in Portland where his father (Owen) owns a dry cleaning business and his mother (Amanda) is a teacher for a primary grades charter school. He doesn’t talk to them very often and has the typical relationship with his mother who tries to use whatever she has learned about psychology over the years to get him to date and marry someone. His father is socially strong but very quiet and has the typical male problem of considering emotions to be a weakness. This helped push Allen into his introverted view as no one was really there to show him how males communicate with each other without being buff jocks or some sort like that. Since he’s neither buff nor a jock he has trouble relating even to his own father. | His parents still live in Portland where his father (Owen) owns a dry cleaning business and his mother (Amanda) is a teacher for a primary grades charter school. He keeps himself fit, mostly by hiking, walking, etc… He actually enjoys the out doors just not the people who are usually out there. When he goes out he tends to do so at night or on odd days where other people stay inside. He is a huge gamer, though has tapered off of the World of Warcraft and Eve Online in the last several months in favor of a few table-top gaming groups. He has trouble fitting in there because he’s not immature just socially inexperienced and has recently found the gaming groups to be less inexperienced and more immature.
He enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy novels, loves Lord of the Rings but absolutely hates Game of Thrones. Other than that, his reading tends toward the technical but occasionally dives into the realms of other sciences. He knows very little about politics other than the fact that when he downloads TV shows it is illegal, though he doesn’t care.
He’s got an unhealthy love of Pizza and Cherry Soda, but does his best to keep it in check - usually through self deprivation. The way he figures it, if he doesn’t buy it he won’t need it.
Personality
Allen is your typical geek in most respects, though he did have the good sense to trade out his glasses for contact lenses some time ago. He’s a bit socially awkward but not so much that he can’t muddle though most things. He finds his social life to be rather taxing and prefers to be doing things in front of the computer for the most part. This means that working on weekends (when no one is there) or better yet from home are ideal from him, though he has meetings and other things to go through while he’s at it. He’s always been a bit of a runt and kind of see’s himself that way for the most part.
He has a really good heart and enjoys helping people who need it. The drawback there is he is a bit gullible and tends to be a little too trusting. If he’s tipped off that someone has lied to him or can’t be trusted, he tends to fly completely to the other side forcing himself into near paranoia where that person is concerned. Trust is very important to him, once you loose his trust he doesn’t bother trying to make it work anymore; since social interactions are so hard for him anyway, it’s just not worth it to him.
Family
He has two siblings, both older sisters. They don’t live anywhere near him. He talks to them probably once, maybe twice a month but they don’t really know each other all that well. His sisters (Anna who is 29 and Jessica who is 32) are both complete social butterflies, they have hundreds of friends and go out all the time. It is as if when he was made the powers of the universe made him the polar opposite of his sisters. This causes some tension as they often don’t see eye to eye.
