Background

Dalton was born in London, 1991, to a lowly family in the slums. At the age of 18, he had enlisted in the BAF, wanting to escape the terrible life he had during his childhood. Being deployed, he had learned that life was a harsh thing, and quickly rose through the ranks. Eventually reaching the rank of Corporal, he was discharged due to medical reasons, and he quickly became jobless. Seemingly, this was the end of his career.

He was wrong. Soon after, a mysterious person approached him, offering him a second chance at fighting for a cause. Filled with delusions of becoming a hero, he would quickly accept, and hence, his XCOM career began. One of the first people to sign up at XCOM, Dalton served as an assault, usually on most operations.

Eventually, XCOM had discovered psionics, and was looking for candidates to apply for the program. Dalton was one of the first people to apply, and was shown to have an extremely high willpower. He quickly had gotten through training, and became one of XCOM’s strongest Psi-Operatives. As autopsies were performed, he had learned even more about Psionics, becoming the first person to mind control an Ethereal and learning Rift.

Then, disaster struck. The XCOM base was discovered by the aliens, and was assaulted heavily. Almost everyone was slaughtered, barring a few soldiers. This event had critically wounded Dalton, putting him into a coma for several months. Having no other option, the researchers at XCOM had used him as a test subject for MELD, and had modified his genes. The Adaptive Bone Marrow which was applied to him had somehow healed him from the grievous injuries he had sustained.

In the months following the attack, Dalton struggled to maintain some form of purpose to fight, having nearly lost everything. Sacrificing his humanity to win it all, he was augmented genetically, gaining his currently gene-mods and becoming beyond human. Following these events, the psionic had served as one of humanity's protectors in time to come, when eventually, his watch came to an end.

The Alien Temple Ship, a monument of extraterrestrial might was spotted over the coast of South America, was set as a target for Operation Avenger. As the Skyranger took off, Dalton took one last glimpse at the Earth, thinking it might've been the last time he would ever get to set foot on his home planet again. He had no idea how right he was. The push through the last stronghold of the xenos was quite hard, as those who he knew were melted away by the relentless plasma wielded by the invaders as he heard countless whispers within his mind. As they finally reached the bridge of the ship, Dalton was greeted with the greatest psionic presence he had ever felt.

The Uber Ethereal, the overlord of the invaders, had finally come out of the shadows. Tempting Dalton with the promise of great power and ascension of the stars, his will had wavered for a moment. He could've had it all... but humanity came first. Blatantly refusing, he rejected the temptation of being granted great power, slaying the Uber Ethereal and ultimately sealing his fate and humanity's. As the ship fell apart and fell towards Earth, the psionic recived a vision of the ship causing a cataclysmic event that would engulf the Earth once it was destroyed. A decision had to be made, and quickly. Telling his comrades to flee, Dalton reactivated the engines of the ship, and eventually, self-destructed the ship after it exited the atmosphere of the planet. His final sacrifice ensuring the survival of mankind, he was presumed dead. Big emphasis on presumed.
