Social Structure

Nyxaans mostly keep to themselves. While not hostile to other races visiting, they don't encourage these visits. They do have an active trading system with others, and males of this race are permitted to off world and travel. Females are not permitted to travel off world, study other cultures, or be schooled in any form of technology that would encourage either of the previous. As such, it is virtually unheard of for a Nyxaan female to be involved with an 'other-worlder'.

Gender Roles

Females

Females are permitted to be as promiscuous as they please until marriage, and sometimes even after, depending on the marriage, to gather experience in pleasing their future husband. They tend to marry young by Terran standards, from anywhere between 15 yrs to 19 yrs. They also usually do not get to choose their mate, their family chooses for them. They are, however, for the most part quite content with their role.

Males

The males of this race are generally peaceful, patient, and calm. All members of this race are what is referred to as dream-walkers. Meaning they can share each other's dreams, visit with each other in this manner, and affect other's dreams. They tend not to do this unless invited, out of respect. The phrase "in your dreams..." totally different meaning to them.

Government

Affiliated with the Federation in that they've never been hostile or had any trade problems, but they have not applied to be a part of the Federation itself. Thoughts on this are most likely due to the fact that they want as little outside influence as possible, though there is some dissidence regarding this, so the policy may change in the future.
