Special Abilities
Langley is what is known as a Null. No supernatural or otherwise superhuman ability works on him. Magic, psionics, or other like abilities do not impact him directly. Though magic or other abilities can impact things that then impact him (such as using magic to throw a rock at him, when the rock hits it will hurt, or taking over the mind of someone near him will allow them to harm or influence him through normal mundane means). This also means that magical or supernatural healing or other beneficial effects also fail. Psionics, telepathy, or an empath will seem him as a void, not existing.
Personality
Langley is not a fighter, he is a thinker who considers a situation and acts. He is also known for being predisposed to avoid conflict, which is specifically why the Navy chose him for this assignment. Langley has no problems at all adapting to new situations but once he decides on a course of action very few things short of a direct order from a superior officer will make him back down. His file notes that a commanding officer who wants to use him to the best of their abilities will allow him a wide latitude and stay out of his way. That is exactly how Langly prefers to operate.
