The FX-01 is an experimental project developed by a team of advanced placement students as part of a final project. each team member participated in the design of the main craft, as well as aided one another in further designs and problem solving. one prominent student was Savannah Michaels, who with her knowledge of the void, and the help of her co-students, developed <noautolinks>the Void Drive</noautolinks>, and [[the Void]] Shielding technologies needed for the craft.  The craft's primary purpose is to show the development and use of that technology as a proof of concept. it's possible the concept could be applied to larger craft.

The ship is designed to be extremely compact in storage.  The wings fold up and the impulse drive / thrusters collapse inward.  This configuration allows the fighter to be deployed from the shuttle pod bay of an [[NX Class Starship]].

: A specialized shielding that protections systems from the dangers of the void as well as the void core.  Functions similar to a deflector shield in normal space, especially resistant to energy weapons though more vulnerable to projectile weapons.

== Experimental Features ==
; Void Drive : Allows the vessel to effectively jump out of normal space in one location and back into normal space at a second location without traveling the intervening space.
; Void Core : Allows the vessel to utilize Void Energy for its engines and shields.
; Void Mode : As a result of the void drive, the vehicle is capable of vanishing from sensors entirely, leaving relatively no trace of it's presence or movement, the ship slips into a region between both the [[Void Space]] and normal space, allowing the ship to continue moving smoothly but nearly undetectable. Weapons are disabled in this mode.
