== Usage ==
The whip may be used by anyone as a general whip of masterwork or low-enchanted quality (it will not become worn, damaged, or frayed in any way). The abilities that change it are unique to women, as per the design of the Goddess Nyx (Goddess of Night) it was created by. Its altering substance activates and readies the other abilities which can be used in various combinations. While it always prevents death while a victim is being held the Dark Tentacles and Crushing Despair can be used in concert with each other or separately.

It is possible to trick the whip though a spell or magical object that alters the effective gender of the one holding the whip, this alteration need not be a physical change if the magical forces can be so constructed as to make a male appear magically to be female.
